Visit of Member of Shree Yuba Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited of Nepal to NCUI
A 36 member delegations from Shree Yuba Saving and Credit Cooperative Limited of Nepal under the leadership of Mr. Pralhad Bastola, Chairperson visited NCUI on 23rd January 2019. A briefing and interaction meeting was arranged with the Chairperson and other officials of the Society with the Chief Executive NCUI, and senior officers of NCUI. Shri N. Satyanarayana, Chief Executive and Dr. K.N. Sinha, Executive Director, NCUI welcomed the Mr. Pralhad and accompanied delegates at NCUI .
The Chief Executive of NCUI informed that being the largest movement in the world, the apex organization NCUI is promoting the cooperative education and training through the National Centre for Cooperative Education. The role of these cooperative education & training institutions towards capacity building of personnel & functionaries engaged in cooperative development have been explained to have further collaboration between the two countries. He further added that in India, NPA rate is 7% in case of Private and Public Sector Bank whereas the NPA rate in cooperative sector is only 1 % and reason being that there is elected representatives of cooperatives societies and they are from grass-root persons and visionaries to connect the members.
Citing the Example of AMUL, the Chief Executive of NCUI informed that the Dairy sector is very successful cooperative model in India and no cooperative society in the world as compare to Dairy cooperatives in India have an impact of the cooperative movement in the country.
A presentation on the overview of Indian Cooperative Movement and activities of NCUI were made by Shri Ritesh Dey, Director (International Relations), NCUI which was followed by interactions with the participants by Dr. K.N. Sinha, Executive Director (IR), NCUI.
