To popularise cooperative model of development amongst the youth, and to promote cooperative education in schools/colleges and universities, NCUI launched an exclusive forum called Coop Connect. Under the Forum in the past, a number of private schools in Delhi/NCR, Navodaya, government schools were sensitised towards cooperative values and principles, and the role of cooperatives in national economy.
As a serious initiative, of late, NCUI signed a MoU with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan in March, 2016 for popularising cooperative education in 100 KVS schools all over the country. Based on the MoU signed with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, NCUI organized four Teachers’ Training Programmes of Kendriya Vidyalaya School Teachers at Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Guwahati. Around 200 teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools were trained on the theoretical as well as practical aspects of the functioning of cooperatives. They were also trained on the ways to form cooperative consumer stores in the school campuses. Recently, training programmes for KVS school teachers were organised at Delhi, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. In order to popularise cooperative education in universities, a Diploma Programme in collaboration with Central University, Mehandergarh was started. Also a Certificate Course in Cooperative Management for Students of Bhagat Phool Vishwa Vidyalaya (Sonipat) was also started. A MoU was also signed with Gujarat Vidyapeeth under which students of Rural Management would be trained in cooperatives. Training programmes and contact classes are regularly being organised under these courses, and these courses are becoming quite popular.
